What to play with first?! Included are a wooden FSC spinner, pencils and colouring in packs to enjoy as well as a chance to sing back to our amazing birds with the hand made bamboo bird whistle whist waiting for the seeds for bees to grow.
Seeds – the packet is made from recycled paper and itself fully recyclable. We source our seeds from a UK supplier, and all the wildflower seeds are of native UK origin. We don’t buy them in from mainland Europe where the mixes are not entirely of British species. We only supply seeds that are of British wildflowers, and therefore suitable for our climate and insects.
Twig pencils – We source our unique twig pencils from a dedicated Fairtrade wholesaler. The pencils are crafted from natural tamarind tree branches in Thailand by a small family business. Our supplier has visited the family personally to ensure its eco credentials and its Fairtrade status.
Bird whistle – from Java, Indonesia, it’s Fairtrade and handmade from bamboo. Blow gently into the whistle, moving the stick up and down to create a magical birdsong. Take it outside and see which birds you can start a conversation with. Please note some of the whistles come with a small CE sticker on, which is a legal requirement for some toys.
Animal glasses – FREE while stocks last! Made from thick paper, these super fun animal masks can be coloured in and enjoyed by the children and when the time comes can be recycled with your paper and card collection. Unlike masks or party hats, there are no elasticated bands or staples – just 100% recyclable paper. A mix of six animals will be spread across the bags: tiger, elephant, parrot, giraffe, lion and a very cheeky alligator!
Party Bag – Our newspaper bags are made by an NGO whose main objective is to provide education and shelter to street children. This eco-friendly product is made from recycled Indian newspaper. The organisation was started in 2004 by street children who wanted to give something back in return for the opportunities which had allowed them to escape desperate circumstances. These elder children, now with children of their own, generate an income by making newspaper bags and jute items. This allows them to take care of the children that they have taken in from the streets surrounding New Delhi train station. Support for this wonderful project means that these children can enjoy going to school and playing, rather than pulling rickshaws, shoe polishing, rag picking and worse.
The newspapers are either in Indian language or English. They are made from recycled newspapers, this is why sometimes your bag will have a completed crossword!
